Any good traveler has their go-to items every time they hit the road. Here are my All-Star travel products. It can be an investment, but it will pay off after making your travels so much better!
As basic as this item may be, it is hard to deny that it is just a damn good product. I love it for traveling because:
1. You have your items close to you, which helps avoid pickpockets (which is a major issue traveling internationally).
2. You won't be dirtying any expensive or nice purses while traveling.
3. The little zipper in the back is the perfect size to hold your passport. I like the black color so it doesn't show dirt.
Price: $38
2. Monos Carry On:
My carry-on of choice is the Monos Carry On Plus.
Don't be put off by the price as they have lots of sales and are guaranteed for life. If you invest in a high quality, smartly designed carry on, you will end up saving lots of money by not checking bags on flights. Plus, if you travel carry-on no one can ever lose your bag. My favorite benefit of carry on is that you are ready to hop off and hit the road without having to wait for your bag.
Price: $306 full price (usually on sale 20-30% off)
3. Comfy Vuori Travel Pants
Every time I leave the house to travel, I have my go-to uniform. Mine of course includes my favorite travel pants the Halo Wide Leg pants from Vuori. They are buttery soft, sleek looking and have pockets. My runner up is the Daily Legging which also has a super soft material, but is a more fitted pant. I switch off between these two depending if I want a loose or tight pant! Honorable mention to the Vuori Jogger which my mom and sister are obsessed with.
Price: ~$90
I would highly recommend getting a good quality, sleek and dark colored sweatshirt for travel! I usually wear this on the airplane for comfort, but investing in a nicer sweatshirt always pays off once I get to my travel destination. Since it is cute and plain, I will multi-purpose it with jeans while on my trip. As you can also tell with my Vuori pants, I usually buy black/dark colors for travel, so stains don't show since you usually don't have a washer while on the road. I got this sweatshirt on sale and full price can be a little pricey, so if this is out of budget find a cute travel sweatshirt from your favorite store!
Price: $138
This is my daily reusable water bottle and one of my favorite things about it is the handle. It has a wide handle which makes it super comfortable to carry around, hence great for traveling! Many countries (especially in Europe) are very environmentally conscious and will provide water refill stations throughout their cities! Traveling with a water bottle you love will save you money that you would have spent on water bottles (and can now spend on wine), and it's better for the planet!
Price: $40
6. Byte Wipes
Byte Wipes are pocket-sized, electronic safe, antibacterial wipes for your phone. I love these for traveling to keep both my hands and phone clean. They are only 2" round with 30 wipes, so they are perfect for in your pocket or purse. Airplanes and public transit have lots of bacteria and I use these for peace of mind! I recommend to buy a 6-pack and share with friends & family. (Shameless plug as this is also my company, but I seriously don't travel without them!
I recommended traveling with a smaller wallet than your usual day-to-day. Firstly, having a slimmer wallet helps create space if you are using a small travel bag (such as the Lululemon Belt Bag). Secondly, it is recommended to not travel with all of your cards. If your wallet looks like mine, it likely has various gift cards, credit cards and other things that aren't required for your travels. Use this slim wallet and bring only what you need (i.e. your license, one or two credit cards, some cash and your health insurance). This ensures that in the chance your wallet is stolen or lost while traveling, you will have those other items still at home. They don't sell my exact Kate Spade travel wallet anymore, but this one is very similar and I love it!
Price: $98
8. Personal Hot Spot
This will be the lightest item on the list, since it belongs on your phone! If you like to combine work and travel (like I do), it is a must to have a personal hotspot on your phone. This has saved me many times when Wi-Fi has been spotty and I have important work to get out. This is something to buy through your cell phone provider and they will have different plans for it!
9. Journal
I always travel with a journal! I would not consider myself a huge writer but it is a great idea to have a dedicated travel journal. In this, I like to write down how I liked a place, my favorite restaurants or best memories. This is always a good activity to do in the airport on the way home. They are always fun memories to look back on and maybe even one day pass on to your kids!
10. Deck of cards
Never forget to pack a deck of cards! So many times I will be on vacation and we want to play cards and then end up having to buy overpriced tourist cards. It is a fun thing to keep in your purse while traveling, to play a round of cards while waiting at airports or at bars. Surprisingly enough, having cards at bars/pubs is also a great way to make friends and socialize with new people!
